The Horizon
The Horizon stems from a clear vision: to design a building capable of engaging with the tropical climate rather than fighting it. Located in Dakar, the project develops its identity through orientation, shade, and the quality of the living space. Architecture is not conceived as a mere stacking of floors, but as a climate system capable of filtering light, heat, and relationships with the surrounding landscape.
The large, deep terraces become the central element of the project. Intentionally designed as architectural solar shading devices, they screen direct solar radiation, reducing the overheating of interior surfaces and creating truly livable outdoor spaces. The building also opens towards the north, not only to optimize natural light but to capture the most precious view: the horizon and the sea. The Horizon Residence thus proposes a new way of living in the tropical context: more open, more protected, more connected to the climate and the landscape.
