The Passage
The Passage stems from the idea that architecture can offer an alternative to the traditional way of living in the sub-Saharan city. Located in the Fann Résidence district of Dakar, the project breaks with the model of the compact residential block and draws its own spatial universe inside a large central oasis. Instead of constructing a single volume, the building is fragmented into four distinct volumes positioned at the corners of the plot, generating a traversable void that becomes the heart of the project.
More than a simple internal courtyard, this central space transforms into an architectural landscape made of pathways, light, water, and natural ventilation. Ocean winds flow through the building, cooling its spaces, while reflecting pools and shaded pathways create a protected microclimate. The Passage reinterprets the idea of a contemporary urban oasis: a place of quiet, privacy, and respite in the heart of the city.
